ANNOUNCEMENTS & UPCOMING EVENTS

August 4-15

·         Practice: these two weeks are the required coaching "hands off" period, so there will be no official team practices or work-outs. The team captains/seniors may reach out to the team via Facebook or text for some informal workouts or gatherings, so have your son keep an eye out for those. As with the other summer activities, nothing during these two weeks in mandatory.

.    Strength & Fitness Testing: players will be tested on their performance on bench press, squat, hang clean, 40 yard dash, 60 yard shuttle run (10 yd and back - 20 yd and back) and 4 minute hills (# of hill runs achieved in 4 min.), so these two weeks are a great opportunity to prepare/get in shape for that testing!

·         Cape Football Registration: all CEHS football players must be registered with Cape Elizabeth Football to play football and the registration fee needs to be paid – if you have not yet registered, the form is attached.  Please send the form and payment to the address at the bottom of the first page as soon as possible!

·         High School Forms: If you have not yet gotten all your forms in please do so before preseason practices begin on Aug. 18th (the coaches will have a list with them of players whose forms are not complete – you don’t want to be on that list!).  Here’s the link to the forms and information on how to complete the online forms: Fall Athletic Forms.

o    If you are not sure all of your forms are in or if you have any questions, please contact the HS Nurse, Deb Braxton, at dbraxton@capeelizabethschools.org

·         Youth Equipment Swap: clean out those closets/garages/gear bags! The Cape Youth Football program will have its annual equipment swap for the youth teams (grades 4-6) on Monday, Aug. 4th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Gull Crest Field shed.  If you have pads, cleats, etc. which no longer fit or that you no longer need, please drop any contributions at the shed that evening.  Thanks very much!!

·         Team Equipment Distribution: Friday, August 15th is equipment distribution night at the locker room (go around the right side of the pool to the back of the school - facing the track).

o    If your son is not available to pick up equipment on the 15th that is perfectly ok – there will be other opportunities to get gear during the first few days of practice.

o    Note that all the boys need for the first two days of preseason practice are helmets, cleats, practice jersey and Cape Color (maroon, yellow, black, white) shorts. If you cannot be at the equipment distribution on the 15th, just have your son show up early to the first practice on Aug. 18th to get a helmet and jersey.

o    Equipment distribution schedule:

Seniors 5:00-5:30

Juniors - 5:30 - 6:00

Sophomores - 6:00 - 6:30

Freshmen - 6:30 -7:00

August 18-29

·         Preseason practices: The first preseason practice is Monday, Aug. 18th (remember – helmet, cleats, practice jersey, Cape color shorts).

o    When/where:

§  7:00 am – 10:30 am @ Hannaford Field

§  3:00 pm – 6:30 pm @ Gull Crest Field

o    This will be the general schedule for the entire two weeks of preseason, but please watch the team Facebook Page and this website for additional information from Coach Filieo about the preseason schedule.

o    Generally, the entire team practices together, so please assume that all players are expected at all practice sessions unless told differently by a coach.

o    If your son needs to miss a practice or arrive late, he should notify Coach Filieo (capeelizabethfootball@gmail.com or 650-1758) in advance.

·         Mandatory Fall Sports Meeting:  All Fall sports athletes and a parent/guardian of each athlete are required to attend this meeting on Thursday, Aug. 21st at the CEHS Auditorium.

o    Introduction & Guest Speaker - 6:00-7:00 pm

o    Individual Team Meetings - 7:00- 8:00 pm

o    The boys will come directly from practice to this meeting, so you may want to bring your son a drink and a snack.

·         Kick-off Event: please save the date of Thursday, Aug. 28th for the annual team and family kick-off event at Hannaford Field – details to follow!!
